Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar for sprinkling
  • Optional filling ideas:
  • ½ cup fruit preserves or jam
  • ½ cup pastry cream or sweetened cream cheese
  • ½ cup sliced fresh fruit e.g., apples, berries, or peaches
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon or chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into desired shapes (squares, rectangles, or circles).
  • Add a small amount of filling to the center of each piece, leaving a border around the edges.
  • Brush the edges with egg wash and fold or layer the pastry as needed. Press edges to seal.
  • Brush tops with egg wash, sprinkle with sugar, and optionally, cinnamon.
  • Bake for 15–18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.

Notes

You can prep the pastries ahead and keep them chilled until ready to bake. Feel free to mix and match fillings — fruit and cream cheese, Nutella and banana, or spiced apples all work beautifully. Serve warm or at room temperature.
